Color: Deep purple garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Black licorice, cherry and minerals with cherry fruit underneath. A little bitterness from alcohol. (2.5) Body: Solid middleweight with excellent tannin and good fruit. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but not quite enough fruit to counter bitter, weedy flavors. (2.5) Finish: Parallels flavor, but bitterness becomes more prominent. (2.0)
Overall: Has classic Tuscan terroir that's minerally with some iron and clay nuances. Unfortunately, it doesn't have enough pure fruit to counter bitterness from the iron, alcohol and black licorice nuances, despite the decent cherry fruit underneath. Its rustic character should go well with hearty pasta and meat dishes. (13.0)
