Tasting Note

89   2006 William James Cellars  Grenache (St. Barbara County)  8/20/09 ($20)

  14% alc
Color: Medium deep purple-black raspberry. (3.0) Bouquet: Ripe black plum and prune with excellent acidity, but some alcohol. (2.5) Body: Solid middleweight with excellent ripe fruit and acidity. Just a little heat with game and some spice. Ripe fruit coats the mouth. (3.0) Flavor: Excellent fruit (fresh figs) with spice and some game. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor step for step with length, but could be more structured. (3.0)
Overall: Ripe black plum and blackberry fruit with excellent acidity. This is ripe CA wine, but in a restrained style, not too much oak or extraction. Goes well with pork, even spare ribs. Drink now and in the next couple of years.
(14.5)
