PCWC Wine Tasting 2008

I recently had the pleasure of presenting the wines at the October PCWC wine tasting. This tasting was meant to be an introduction to a variety of wines of different styles that deliver excellent quality for the money. Here’s a quick recap. I have listed the six wines in the order served with a basic description of each.

WHITES:

2007 Corbillieres Sauvignon Blanc (Touraine, France) $ 12
Citrus fruit cocktail and grassy meadow flavors. Crisp, lively and refreshing.

2007 King Estate Signature Series Pinot Gris (Oregon) $ 15 *
Green apple and nectarine with a touch of mineral.

2006 Cono Sur Vision Viognier (Chile) $15 *
White flowers with honey. Has a richness that makes Viognier a very good alternative to Chardonnay.

REDS:

2007 Cono Sur Vision Pinot Noir (Chile) $ 14 *
Red raspberry and tart cherry. Lighter styled red.

2005 Capcanes Mas Donis (Spain) $ 15 *
Dusty black cherry and some earthiness. Goes well with hearty fare.

2006 Ravenswood Lodi Zinfandel $ 15 *
Full-bodied with jammy blackberry fruit.

* available in Montgomery County
