Tasting Note

89   2008  Veritas  Sauvignon Blanc Reserve  8/7/09 ($25)

  12.5% alc
Color: Medium silver yellow. (3.0) Bouquet: Lime, green apple and a little peach fruit complemented by subtle grass. Dry with very good concentration. (3.0) Body: Middleweight with very good fruit and acidity along with a stony nuance. Soft and mouth-coating. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but drier and less expressive. (2.5) Finish: Parallels bouquet with length. (3.0)
Overall: Dry, precise Sauvignon Blanc character. Has elegance intertwined with lime, grapefruit and green apples with just a touch of stones. If it had a bit more minerality, it would drink like an excellent Loire wine. The best example of this varietal that I've tasted from Virginia and a fine Sauvignon Blanc by any standard. (14.5)
