Tasting Note

88+           2002 Verget Pouilly-Fuissé        2/16/08 ($24)

Color: Medium straw yellow. Nice. (3.0) Bouquet: Classic P.F. gravel and minerals, white grape juice, pear and a little dried pineapple. Also a little heat. (3.0) Body: Solid middleweight with nice fruit-to-acid balance. (3.0) Flavor: Not giving a lot here, closed, but some pleasant mineral and dried fruit still comes through. (2.0) Finish: Parallels bouquet. Has some tart minerally acidity that uplifts the fruit. (3.0)
Overall: I really liked this when first released more than 3 years ago. Within a year or so after this, it closed up and is just starting to open again. Has excellent mineral/gravel terroir, typical of the appelation, and also very good concentration. Based on its significant improvement with air, I think this will continue to improve in the next 2-3 years. If drinking now, decant 1-2 hours before drinking. (14.0)
