Color: Deep framboise. (3.0) Bouquet: Blueberry and red raspberry with lively acidity and some mineral and game. Attractive, but restrained. (2.5) Body: Very good fruit and excellent acidity. Solid middleweight that coats the mouth nicely. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but more giving with acidity lifting the fruit. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor, but has a little bitterness. Still long. (2.5)
Overall: An interesting Mencia with the same gamey nuances as the '06, but not as structured. Red raspberry and tart cherry fruit are propelled by excellent acidity. Comes off delicate and restrained when first opened, so decant for an hour or cellar for 2-3 years.(14)
