Tasting Note

90+  2006 Valdipiatta  Vino Nobile di Montepulciano   12/16/11 ($22)

  14.1% alc
Color: Medium deep garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Classic Tuscan Sangiovese with dusty cherry, slightly austere acidity and subtle integrated oak. (3.0) Body: Solid middleweight with outstanding acidity, excellent fruit and some tannin. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet. (3.0) Finish: Persistent. (3.0)
Overall: A young, lean, slightly austere Sangiovese with outstanding acidity-based structure. Has dusty cherry and an interesting, subtle oak component. This should improve as the austerity smooths and the fruit sweetens with more age, 2-4 years. Excellent value. (15.0)
