Tasting Note

88    2004 Trimbach Gewurztraminer       6/22/07 ($15)

Color: Light gold. Pretty. (3.0) Bouquet: Wet stones and elegant mineral with honeysuckle, white flowers and some spice. (3.0) Body: Middleweight with good acidity, fruit, spice and nuance. Elegant, but has some force. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but could use more fruit. (2.5) Finish: Parallels flavor with some bitterness. Flower nuances linger. (2.5)
Overall: A pretty, flowery Spring wine that is dry and tasty without being heavy. A very good Gewurz, better than the ’03, which was heavy-handed and somewhat imbalanced, but does not have quite as much fruit as the ’02. Drink now and in the next 2 years. (14.0)
