Tasting Note

89    2002 Trimbach Gewurztraminer         2/26/06 ($15)

13% alc
Color: Light gold. Pretty. (3.0) Bouquet: Intense flower pollen and honeysuckle with wet stones. Very aromatic (3.0) Body: Middleweight with excellent fruit, acidity and dry minerality. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but less interesting. (2.5) Finish: Long and intense, but classy. Ginger-like spice and fruit linger nicely. (3.0)
Overall: Dry precision and balance combined with classic Gewurz fruit and spice and Alsatian terroir. Nothing profound, but a lovely example of what a dry Gewurz should be at a very reasonable price. Its versatility with food makes it a fine choice for a house wine. (14.5)
