Color: Medium deep black cherry. (3.0) Bouquet: Aromatic cedary oak complements tart black raspberry and blackberriy fruit with nice spice and a little heat. (2.5) Body: Solid middleweight with excellent fruit and acidity. Rich, tart mouthfeel. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but the fruit is more forward. (3.0) Finish: Parallels bouquet showing some bitterness. (2.5)
Overall: Shows a lot of character for the price with grapes coming from the same vineyards as Ridge's Geyserville. The fruit and spice are very distictive, but it doesn't have the fruit concentration or complexity of Geyserville. It also shows a bit too much fancy oak for my taste. Still, I'm not complaining as this is an excellent value. (14.0)
