Tasting Note

88   2006 Tablas Creek  Cotes de Tablas Blanc  6/6/08 ($18)

59% Viognier, 32% Marsanne, 6% Grenache Blanc, 3% Rousanne   13.5% alc
Color: Medium deep gold. (3.0) Bouquet: Pollen and ground stones with honeysuckle, melon and white grapefruit, also a touch of buttercrunch. A little brash with some alcohol sticking out. (2.5) Body: Light heavyweight with very good fruit, acidity and Viognier character with some complexity. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but more subtle and appealing. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor with excellent length, but shows some bitterness. (2.5)
Overall:
This has excellent potential, but a little youthfully brash at present. Also not as balanced as the 2005. Still enjoyable with excellent white Rhone character, fruit and structure. Give it 1-3 years. (14.0)
