Tasting Note

88    2006 Seven Deadly Zins (Michael & David)     3/7/09 ($16)

14.5% alc
Color: Medium deep purple-garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Dried blueberries and cranberries. Ripe, almost over-ripe, but acidity balances it out. Some heat. (2.5) Body: Solid middleweight plus with excellent, bright fruit and acidity. Just a little heat. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet with even more prevalent, tasty fruit. Ripe and delicious. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor, but a little more heat shows and it could be longer and richer.(2.5)
Overall: Excellent fruit with precise blueberry and dried cranberry flavors that one might expect from a more expensive wine. On the other hand, it does have minor issues of heat and high acidity without much in the way of complexity. Nonetheless, it's very tasty and a very good value. (14.0)
