Tasting Note

95  1996 Serafin Gevrey-Chambertin Les Corbeaux (1er)12/25/05 ($50)

13% alc
Color: Medium deep Burgundy robe with enough onion skin to look ready. (3.0) Bouquet: Framboise liqueur fruit jumps out of the glass with wet leaves and menthol complexity. (4.0) Body: Solid middleweight and then some that is very well balanced and classy. Has a youthful vibrancy to it. (3.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but a little restrained. Still very tasty with lively acidity. (3.0) Finish: Parallels bouquet step-for-step with some subtle cigarbox thrown in. Could be bigger, but long and very classy. (3.5)
Overall: Again, could be bigger and more exotic, but still a textbook perfect example of what it is. Just peaking with 2-3+ years left in it and may improve. Very classy and very enjoyable. I’ve been very impressed with Serafin’s ‘96s. (17.0)
