Tasting Note

93  2004  Serafin Gevrey-Chambertin Les Corbeaux (1er)    9/23/12 ($50)

  13.5% alc
Color: Medium raspberry with slight onion skin at rim. (3.0) Bouquet: Distinctive wet leaf, forest floor complexity with elegant black cherry fruit. Not big, but has surprising richness. Very aromatic. (3.5) Body: Silky mouthfeel with excellent fruit and acidity. Well-balanced middleweight. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but not quite as distinctive. Still very tasty with tang. (3.0) Finish: Long and pretty with more complexity returning. The rich fruit is light on its feet and persistent. (3.5)
Overall: A very elegant, distinctive Burgundy with wet leaves, forest floor and fresh basil nuances. Only a middleweight, but shows persistent pure black cherry fruit with elegant vanilla. Has a silky mouthfeel with tang. Classy! Probably at its best now and in the next few years. (16.0)
