Tasting Note

92+   2003  Serafin   Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers   11/10/18 ($75)

   13.5% alc
Color: Medium framboise with some browning and a little clearing. Healthy for its age. (3.0) Bouquet: Pretty autumn leaves, black truffles and burnt toffee complement black cherry and raspberry fruit. Complex, mature nuances. (3.5) Body: Solid middleweight with excellent fruit, acidity and smooth tannins. Silky, tangy mouthfeel with just a slight acidic burn. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet. Very tasty. (3.5) Finish: Long and tangy with slight burn lingering. (3.0)
Overall: Shows energy for its age with excellent acidity and smooth tannins. It also has excellent, mature nuances of autumn leaves, black truffles and burnt toffee. The black cherry and raspberry fruit is still attractively fresh, but does show a slight acidic burn in the back of the throat. A truly excellent, mature Premier Cru G-C, but I was expecting a little more for the price and the vintage. Still very enjoyable. Drink now and in the next couple of years. (16.0)
