Tasting Note

90   2002  Serafin  Gevrey-Chambertin Fonteny (1er Cru)   11/26/15  ($65)

   13% alc
Color: Medium deep black cherry with browning at the rim. Not as deep as the Corbeaux. Ready and then some. (3.0) Bouquet: Vanilla and black cherry with subtle forestal and truffle nuances. Less minerality than the Corbeaux. (3.0) Body: Solid middleweight with excellent acidity and very good fruit. Silky mouthfeel. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet. (3.0) Finish: Parallels bouquet. (3.0)
Overall: A tasty Red Burgundy, but lacks the concentration and structure I expect from a 1er Cru Gevrey-Chambertin. The Corbeaux has more of everything. This is elegant and silky though. Drink now, may have been better a few years ago. (15.0)
