Tasting Note

95  2004  Selvapiana  Bucerchiale  Chianti Rufina Riserva   8/16/14 ($32)

  14% alc
Color: Very deep garnet with slight browning at rim. Impressive for 10. (3.5) Bouquet: Almonds, pistachios and beef broth complement rich, tart cherry. Slight old Madiera. (3.5) Body: Outstanding structure (acidity and smooth, substantial tannins) holds up excellent fruit. Coats big time with richness. Light heavyweight. (3.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet. Intense and delicious. (3.5) Finish: Parallels flavor, but fruit is less expressive with black pepper tannins lingering. Still long and tasty. (3.0)
Overall: A great Chainti Riserva on the early side of peak maturity. May be at its best right now, but will hold and continue to develop over the next 3-5 years. (17.0)
