Tasting Notes

88   2008  Seghesio  Rockpile Zinfandel    6/5/10 ($32)

     15.6% alc
Color: Medium deep purple garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Milk chocolate and cedary, smooth oak complement blackberry and cherry fruit. (3.0) Body: Light heavyweight with excellent fruit and acidity, but showing a little heat. Coats somewhat. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but more restrained. A little bitterness from oak and alcohol. (2.5) Finish: Parallels flavor. (2.5)
Overall: A very good Zin, but nothing more. Surprisingly non-descript for this wine, the last two vintages
were impressive. This one is a little too ripe and a little overoaked, both of which cover the interesting character that this can achieve. Enjoyable, but lacking luster. (14.0)
