Tasting Note

89+   2007 Seghesio Sonoma County Zinfandel         2/20/09 ($25)

15.5% alc
Color: Medium deep garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Rich, forward, tart cherry with toasty oak and spice underneath. (3.0) Body: Solid middleweight plus with excellent fruit, spice and acidity. Just a little heat. (2.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet with gamy spiced meat complexity. (3.0) Finish: Parallels bouquet with very good length. (3.0)
Overall: An excellent Zin, particularly for the appellation (Sonoma Cty) with concentrated fruit and fine spiced meat and old vines complexity and richness. It's a higher alcohol style, which is so popular right now, but keeps it under control. A fine effort! Could improve in the next few years. (14.5)
