Tasting Notes

89   2003  Michel-Schlumberger  Cabernet Sauvignon (Dry Creek Valley)  10/11/10 ($20)

  13.9% alc
Color: Deep garnet. More or less ready to drink. (3.0) Bouquet: Subtle cedar and milk chocolate complement blackberry/cassis fruit. Understated. (2.5) Body: Perfectly balanced with excellent acidity, smooth tannins and very good fruit. Solid middleweight with a silky mouthfeel. (3.0) Flavor: More forward than the bouquet with acidity-propelled fruit. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor, but acidity becomes more prominent with fruit and complex nuances in the background. (2.5)
Overall: Smooth, Bordeaux style showing fine balance with excellent acidity and very good, smooth tannins and fruit. All of thse components come through in the flavor, but need to express themselves more in the bouquet and finish to be excellent. Nonetheless, a very tasty, food-friendly Cab. (14.0)
