Tasting Note

88+   2009  Santa Helena  Parras Viejas  Cabernet Sauvignon (Colchagua Valley)   2/15/13 ($25)

   13.5% alc
Color: Medium deep garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Cedar and milk chocolate complement blackberry fruit. Smooth and lively. (2.5) Body: Solid middleweight with excellent fruit, very good acidity and light, smooth tannins. Tangy mouthfeel. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but fruit is more delicious with subtle eucalyptus. (3.0) Finish: Very good length, but not as distinctive as flavor. (2.5)
Overall: A lively, early drinker that's more acidity than tannin driven. Has a healthy dose of oak that adds cedar and milk chocolate flavors to the smooth, tasty blackberry fruit. More on the New World end of the spectrum, but balanced and lively. Easy to drink and food friendly. Drink now and in the next few yeras. (14.0)
