Tasting Note

93+   2010  San Felice  Il Grigio Gran Selezione Chianti Classico   4/2/16  ($33)

80% Sangiovese, 20% other native grapes (Abrusco, Pugnitello, MalvasiaNera, Ciliegiolo, Mazzese)   14% alc
Color: Deep garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Crushed, mixed nuts complement tart plum and stewed cherry fruit with dusty Tuscan earth. (3.0) Body: Light heavyweight with excellent fruit, acidity and smooth tannins. Coats mouth beautifully. (3.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but fruit richness and nut nuances are more expressive. (3.5) Finish: The tannins do add some bitterness here, but still shows impressive concentration. (3.0)
Overall: This is a serious CC Riserva with a long life ahead. Needs several hours in a decanter for now drinking and should reward 3-6 more years of aging. Amazing value! (16.0)
