Tasting Note

91   2010  Rozeta Rouge  Corbieres (Maxime Magnon)   2/23/13 ($27)

a field blend of mostly old vines Carignan, with small amounts of Grenache, Syrah, Grenache Gris, Macabou, and Terret     13.5% alc
Color: Medium red raspberry. (3.0) Bouquet: Spring flowers, minerals, tart raspberry and orange. Aromatic, lively and elegant. (3.5) Body: Solid middleweight with a rich, tangy mouthfeel. Excellent acidity and fruit. (3.0) Flavor: Even more intensity than the bouquet. Impressive with youthful fierceness. (3.5) Finish: Slightly restrained compared to the flavor. Flowers, minerals and subtle anise linger. (3.0)
Overall: Interesting, aromatic spring flowers, minerals, raspberry and orange are presented with elegance and lively energy. Bouquet and flavor are particularly strong. The finish should become more expressive with time. Has impressive intensity and complexity, yet light on its feet (somewhat Burgundian). A joy to drink now after an hour of air, but should reach greater heights in the next 3-5 years. (16.0)
