Tasting Note

93  2006 Rosenblum Rockpile Road  Zinfandel (Dry Creek Valley)  6/27/09 ($35)

  14.8% alc
Color: Deep, viscous purple garnet. (3.5) Bouquet: Lots of sweet tobacco complementing very ripe blackberry and spiced plum with some eucalyptus. (3.5) Body: Heavyweight with dense, concentrated fruit and excellent structure, very well balanced. It has a viscous, silky mouthfeel. (3.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet step-for-step with dense, ripe fruit, a strong mid-palate and old vines complexity. (3.5) Finish: Parallels flavor, but not quite as concentrated or interesting at this point and a little short compared to the outstanding bouquet and flavor. (3.0)
Overall: Delicious, multilayered, very ripe and complex Zin at its best. Seemless from start to finish. This is fantastic right now and has the structure to last awhile. I don't know if it will get better, but it might. Drink now and in the next 5+ years. (17.0)
