Color: Deep purple garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Jammy black cherry, cassis and blackberry with briar. A touch of heat. (3.0) Body: Fruit syrup coats the mouth. Solid middleweight plus. Excellent fruit to acid balance. (3.0) Flavor: Very briary with tasty fruit, but could be more well defined and distinctive. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor, but heat adds a little bitterness. (2.5)
Overall: A very good, very ripe Zinfandel that is nearly excellent, but could be more distinctive and is slightly over-ripe. Great value for $18, even at $25 it's well worth the price. I don't think it will improve, so drink now. The '05 was less ripe and more structured, warranting a 91. (14.5)
