Tasting Note

91   2005 Rosenblum  Richard Sauret  Paso Robles Zin    7/29/08 ($25)

Color Deep purple garnet. Younger and deeper than the Ridge. (3.0) Bouquet: Sweet black cherry with some blackberries and cassis. Not as perfumed as the Ridge. Youthfully restrained. (3.0) Body: Light heavyweight with concentrated liqueur-like fruit. Excellent acidity and a rich mouthfeel with some tannin and a kiss of chocolate oak. (3.5) Flavor: Rich, concentrated black plum and black cherry with some cedar. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor with a little heat. (3.0)
Overall: Bigger, more concentrated and a bit more ripe, but also more tannic than the Ridge. Similar to the Ridge, it needs some time for the youthful acidity to calm and integrate. This may take a little longer than the Ridge to reach its peak, say 2-5 years. Both are outstanding examples of Paso Robles Zin. (15.5)
