Tasting Note

92   2003 Rosenblum Rosie Rabbit Late Harvest Zin   5/22/06 ($20, 375mL)

28.4 deg brix, 9% residual sugar by wt., 15.6 % alc
Color: Deep black raspberry. Difficult to see through. (3.5) Bouquet: Very ripe black plum and fig with a slightly sharp edge giving some bitterness. (3.0) Body: Coats the mouth beautifully with excellent acidity keeping the ripe sweetness in balance. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but sweeter and more smooth. Very delicious. (3.5) Finish: Parallels bouquet with some heat returning, but very long, sweet and delicious. Slightly over-ripe fig and plum go on and on. (3.0)
Overall: An excellent late harvest Zin that is delicious. In a very ripe, rich Rosenblum style. Is quite enjoyable now, but might smooth out and gain more complexity with 3-5 years of age. Some heat and bitterness are its only flaws and they are not prevalent. Label says it’s a blend of Zins from all over CA, but the fruit tastes very Paso Robles to me. To drink now, give it 1-2 hrs in a decanter. (16.0)
