Tasting Note

89   2000 Roederer Estate L'Ermitage Brut Anderson Valley   1/1/08 ($35)

Color: Medium gold. (3.0) Bouquet: Tart green apple, toast and yeast. (3.0) Body: Solid middleweight with aging potential and some complexity. Could have more fruit and be a little less tart. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet. (3.0) Finish: Could be longer, bigger and more giving, but still very good. (2.5)
Overall: A fine Ca sparkler that is tart, toasty, yeasty and dry, resembling and surpassing many a NV Champagne for the same price. Somehow, I was still expecting more, but this could improve and get richer with 2-4 years of bottle age. (14.5)
