Tasting Note

92          Ridge Coast Range Cabernet         9/29/06 ($20)

75% CS , 23% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot       13.3% alc       bottled Dec 2000
Color: Medium deep garnet wth a little onion skin – can just see through. (3.0) Bouquet: Rich cassis, sweet floor wax and black ink with a little clove. Has good acidity and a touch of tannin. Not big, but aromatic and surprisingly complex. (3.5) Body: Middleweight with excellent acidity propelling delicious cassis fruit. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but a little less rich. (3.0) Finish: Parallels bouquet step-for-step. Rich long and delicious, but could be bigger and more concentrated. (3.5)
Overall: Delicious, peak CS with class. Even better than a year ago. This is fantastic by itself and just has the body to stand up to food. At its best right now, but still has 1-2 years left in it. Amazing for the price and appellation. (16.0)
