Tasting Note

92   1995  Ridge  York Creek   Petite Sirah (Spring Mountain)  4/1/12 ($23)

 100% Petite Sirah  12.8% alc
Color: Deep black raspberry. Surprisingly young for 17. (3.5) Bouquet: Brown sugar, blackberry preserves and gout de vieux with minerals
. (3.0) Body: Light heavyweight with elegance for PS. Excellent acidity and mineral structure with very good tannins underneath and sufficient fruit. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but more lively and tasty. (3.5) Finish: Less fruit, but more mineral than the flavor. (3.0)
Overall: Excellent, mature PS, which has developed elegance and a brown sugar infused taste of age. This complements prominent minerality and smooth blackberry preserve fruit. Somewhat closed at first, it opened and sweetened with a couple of hours air. A compelling PS that's a joy with food. Probably at its best now and in the next few years. (16.0)
