Tasting Note

91+    2005 Ridge Geyserville      11/24/07 ($18 - half bottle)

77% Zin, 17% Carignane, 6% Petit Sirah       14.6% alc
Color: Deep purple garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Briar and game with concentrated Zinberry fruit that needs time to sweeten. Powerful with fierce chalky acidity. (3.0) Body: Light heavyweight with excellent complexity and acidity with sufficient tannin to age. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but acidity gives it an edge that needs time to calm down. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor with length. (3.5)
Overall: Delicious and interesting. Needs a few years to integrate. This is more complex and has a longer finish than the Lytton Springs, but the LS is more delicious at present with more forward fruit. Both will be interesting to watch in the next 5-7 years. (15.5)
