Tasting Note

93 2002 Ridge Geyserville 12/11/04($30)

Color: Very deep garnet. (4.0) Bouquet: Sulfury and muted with smooth, but substantial tannins. Sulfur blows off after open for an hour or more to show dried fig and hazelnut. (2.5) Body: A light heavyweight with excellent concentration and smooth tannins. (3.0) Flavor: A wonderful montage of berry flavors, integrated beautifully with refined oak, tannins and hazelnuts. (3.5) Finish: Parallels flavor. Long but young and restrained with cassis nuances. (3.0)
Overall: A classic, classy Geyserville with a wonderful future. I’ve been waiting since ’97 for a Geyserville like this. Definitely the Ridge Zin of the vintage for me. (16.0)
