Tasting Note

93    2000 Ridge Pagani Ranch     8/23/03 ($28)

Color: Deep Garnet.(3.5) Bouquet: Wonderful acidity, all in balance with fruit. Roasted almond and chestnut on top of concentrated blueberry and Zinberry fruit. Multilayered and complex. (3.5) Body: Excellent fruit to acid balance, good concentration for the vintage. Still could be bigger and more ageworthy, but I’m nitpicking. (3.0) Flavor: Acidity propels the complex fruit, impressively. (3.5) Finish: Parallels flavor, but not as intense. Still shows balance and elegance here. (2.5)
Overall: Similar in style to the Geyserville from this vintage, but this wine is better balanced, more complex and a bit more concentrated. At its best now and in the next 2 years. (16.0)
