Tasting Note

90     2000 Ridge Geyserville       7/26/03($28)

66% Zin, 17% Carignane, 17% PS
Color: Medium purple-garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Almond, cassis, blackberry and briar propelled by excellent acidity. (3.5) Body: Prominent acidity (maybe too much) with fruit and some tannin thrown in. The excess acidity makes it a little imbalanced. (2.5) Flavor: Wonderfully intense, multi-layered fruit and spice. Delicious. (3.5) Finish: A bit too much acidity and alcohol here, but still long and tasty. (2.5)
Overall: On the plus side, it has intense fruit and nice complexity. On the minus side, it shows a bit too much heat and acidity. It could improve, then again it might be at its best right now, while its youthful fruit is still in all its glory. Very enjoyable right now, so why take the chance. (15.0)
