Tasting Note

92   2014  Ridge  Lytton Estate Petite Sirah (Dry Creek Valley)   4/23/17  ($28)

   13.9% alc
Color: Deep black ruby. (3.0) Bouquet Coffee beans, black licorice and dusty tar complement blackberry fruit. (3.5) Body: Light heavyweight with excellent fruit, acidity and smooth tannins. Tangy mouthfeel that coats. Very well balanced. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet step for step. Delicious fruit. (3.5) Finish: Long, but not as distictive as the flavor. (3.0)
Overall: Excellent Petite Sirah with loads of coffee beans, black licorice and blackberries. Very well balanced with no rough edges, making it surprisingly easy to drink for a young Petite Sirah. Its only minor detraction is that it is slightly lacking in complexity, but this could develop with age. Drink now and in the next 10 years. Outstanding value. (16.0)
