Tasting Note

93  2007  Ridge  East Bench  Zinfandel (Dry Creek Valley)   9/6/14 ($25)

   92% Zinfandel, 8% Petite Sirah    15.4% alc
Color: Deep garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Sweet Zinberry and black cherry with expressive DCV briar. (3.5) Body: Light heavyweight with excellent fruit, acidity and subtle smooth tannins. Rich tangy mouthfeel. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet step for step. Delicious. (3.5) Finish: Long and delicious with vanilla, almonds and concentrated fruit lingering. Best part. (3.5)
Overall: When I think of what DCV Zin should be, this is it. A classic example. Are there more distinctive and unique single vineyard examples out there? Yes, but you're likely to pay a lot more for them. This wine from this vintage is a poster child for the AVA and a great value. At its best now and in the next 2 years. (16.5)
