Tasting Note

94   2004  Ridge  Santa Cruz Mtns Chardonnay    4/10/16  ($28)

  14.6% alc
Color: Bright deep gold. Looks ready, but younger than other bottles I've had in the past few years. (3.5) Bouquet: Pretty poached pear, kiwi and honeysuckle with subtle buttered croissant. (3.0) Body: Light heavyweight with outstanding fruit concentration and excellent acidity. Silky, tangy mouthfeel. (3.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but more lively with outstanding mineraIity. (3.5) Finish: Very long and pretty with mineral-infused fruit going on and on.. (3.5)
Overall: I thought this wine was at its best about 4 years ago. More recent bottles seemed a little old, lacking fruit, but this bottle tastes like how I remember this wine at its best. It did reside in the coldest part of my cellar. (17)
