Tasting Note

91    2005  Ravenswood Teldeschi Zinfandel (Dry Creek Valley)   6/16/08 ($27)

  15.5%alc
Color: Very deep garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Black pepper, excellent acidity, some tannin accompanying very black cherry fruit. Needs time to open fully. (3.0) Body: Heavyweight with excellent structure and fruit.(3.0) Flavor: Rich, concentrated fruit with an interesting yeasty wheat component. Delicious. (3.5) Finish: Parallels flavor, but a little fierce at present. Long. (3.0)
Overall: This is a big, structured DCV Zin with great fruit and balance. It needs a few years to be at its best, but quite enjoyable now if you decant it for an hour or two. The '04 is more giving and delicious right now. (15.5)
