Tasting Note

92       2004   Ravenswood Teldeschi Zinfandel 5/17/08 ($30)

Color: Very deep garnet. (3.5) Bouquet: Black cherry and Zinberry with some DCV spice and herbs. (3.0) Body: Light heavyweight with concentrated fruit and excellent acidity and some tannin, but not backward. Coats the mouth nicely.(3.0) Flavor: Delicious, concentrated black cherry with spice. (3.5) Finish: Parallels flavor, but not as intense. (3.0)
Overall: This is a top-notch, forward, concentrated, drink me now and later, DCV Zinfandel. It is not as structured and ageworthy as some vintages, but it makes up for this with delicious fruit. As is typical of this wine for me, I can't help but make comparisons with Ridge Lytton Springs of the past. This one is reminiscent of the 2000 Lytton. (16.0)
