Tasting Note

90+  1999  Poliziano Vino Nobile di Montepulciano  Asinone  12/11/10 ($40)

   13.5%alc
Color: Deep brick red. Looks mature, but no clearing. (3.0) Bouquet: Cigarbox and roasted chestnuts with rich, dusty cherry. (3.0) Body: Solid middleweight with excellent fruit and very good acidity. (3.0) Flavor: Lively, dusty cherry, nuts and cigarbox, maybe a little too much, but fruit becomes sweeter and more lively with air. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor with very good length, but could be bigger and more complex. (3.0)
Overall: A fine, mature Sangiovese, but cigarbox oak is slightly overdone, masking some of the Sangiovese character. It's peak, but could improve with a little more time (1-3 years). Decant for 1-2 hours for now drinking. (15.0)
