Tasting Note

91     2004 Poliziano Vino Nobile de Montepulciano 3/25/08 ($25)

13.5% alc
Color: Deep purple-garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Ripe black cherry, cedar, dusty Tuscan earth, almonds and beef broth. (3.0) Body: Excellent fruit, acidity and oak balanced perfectly, with sufficient tannin to age 2-4 years. Solid middleweight plus. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but with sweeter, richer fruit and an expressive marzipan component that I really like. (3.5) Finish: Parallels flavor, but not quite as rich and open. Medium length, but aromatic. (3.0)
Overall: Delicious Sangiovese fruit uplifted by excellent acidity and cedary oak. Rich with wonderfully integrated, dusty Tuscan terroir. This is a now and later wine that is so attractive now, but could improve, or at least stay this good for the next 2-4 years. (15.5)
