Tasting Note

87+   2006 Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc(86%)/Viognier(14%) Clarksburg                      4/24/07 ($12)

12.2% alc
Color: Light silver-yellow. (2.5) Bouquet: Peaches, lime and melon with high acidity and a touch of alcohol, but smooth. (2.5) Body: Solid middleweight with excellent concentration for the price and good fruit-to-acid balance. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet with a touch of sweetness that balances the high acidity. (2.5) Finish: Parallels flavor with very good length and persistent flavors. (3.0)
Overall: This is really tasty stuff for the price. It captures the character of fine Chenin Blanc and the Viognier enhances its character and fruit. This is smooth enough to be drunk by itself, but its acidity and weight make it a great match with lighter fare. Much better than the Dry Creek Vineyard CB from this vintage. (13.5)
