Tasting Note

91    2010  Domaine de la Pepière  Clos des Briords  Muscadet   7/3/12 ($16)

      12% alc
Color: Light yellow. Would be light for most other white wines, but excellent for Muscadet. (3.0) Bouquet: Lively minerals, tart melon and fresh apple. Crisp, pure, interesting and elegant. (3.0) Body: Light middleweight with excellent minerals, fruit and acidity. Charmingly crisp and silky in the mouth. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet with more of that tasty melon fruit. This is bone dry, but the fruit is pretty and also shows a mineral/gravel complexity. (3.5) Finish: Tangy mineral-infused fruit lingers. (3.0)
Overall: Highlights of tangy mineral, tart melon and interesting sur lie flavors all in an elegant/silky package. An impressive Muscadet, which is not common for me to say, since most Muscadets remind me of tart mineral water. This really has eye-opening concentration and charm. Drink now or wait a few years to see how it develops. Great value! (15.5)
