Tasting Note

90+   2010  Peay  La Bruma Syrah (Sonoma Coast)   11/16/12 ($45)

12.8% alc
Color: Deep purple garnet. (3.5) Bouquet: Elegant, distinctive blackberries and crushed marischino cherries with minerals and smooth cedar underneath. (3.5) Body: Solid middleweight with a silky mouthfeel. Excellent acidity and fruit. (3.0) Flavor: Tart black raspberry and cherry. (3.0) Finish: Restrained with muted fruit. Pepper and spice linger. (2.5)
Overall: A very high quality, cool climate Syrah with outstanding potential, but the fruit is restrained at present and the structure needs time to calm. Don't touch for a few years at least. Should start to hit its stride at 7-9 years old. (15.5)
