Tasting Note

93    2007  Peay  Les Titans Syrah (Sonoma Coast)   6/9/12 ($44)

    14.0% alc
Color: Deep purple black cherry. (3.0) Bouquet: Pure and concentrated black cherry and cola fruit with smoked meat and spice nuances. (3.5) Body: Outstanding acidity and fruit. Solid middleweight plus with elegance. Lively, tangy mouthfeel that coats with some smooth tannins underneath. (3.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but even more expressive with wet leaves and other elegant forestal nuances intertwines with the fruit and acidity-based structure. (3.5) Finish: Parallels flavor, but not quite as persistent. Still long with elegance and complexity.(3.0)
Overall: This has the fruit of a top notch CA Syrah with elegance and complexity similar to a Cote Rotie. The pure and concentrated black cherry cola fruit is a joy right now. Smoky wet leaves and other complex forest and herb nuances make it very interesting as well. These should become more prominent as it ages, next 5 years, but it's Gorgeous already. (16.5)
