Tasting Note

92+    2007  Peay  La Bruma Syrah (Sonoma Coast)   8/4/12 ($44)

    13.7% alc
Color: Deep purple garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Fresh coffee beans and subtle cedar complement elegant, concentrated blackberries. Pretty, distinctive and slightly restrained. (3.0) Body: Silky, rich mouthfeel with excellent fruit and racy acidity. Solid middleweight plus with ageworthy structure. (3.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but more open and delicious. (3.5) Finish: Parallels flavor, with elegantly distinctive flavors lingering, though slightly restrained at this point. (3.0)
Overall: Racy with delicious, distinctive blackberries and coffee beans. It's slightly less giving than the Les Titans at this point, but shows plenty of acidity-propelled, ageworthy structure with elegance reminiscent of a Cote Rotie. Slight forestal nuances mixed in with the coffee beans. Excellent now, but should improve in the next 5+ years. (16.0)
