Tasting Note

95+   2012  Peay  Pomarium Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast)   6/25/17  ($52)

   13.7% alc
Color: Medium deep black cherry. (3.0) Bouquet Very pretty and spicy black cherry and ripe raspberry fruit. Asian spice complexity is intoxicating. Intense, yet very elegant. (3.5) Body: Light heavyweight with great balance and outstanding fruit and acidity. Silky mouthfeel. (3.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but the fruit is even more expressive. Perfection. (4.0) Finish: Long and pretty, very much like the bouquet. (3.5)
Overall: A great Pinot Noir with wonderful balance and very pretty fruit, combined with subtle Indian spice complexity. Reminiscent of Burgundy with a silky mouthfeel and intensity that's light on its feet. But also has a character of its own with spicy black cherry and ripe raspberry that almost tastes like California Pinot, but is way too elegant. Drinking beautifully right now, but might even improve in the next 2-3 years. (17.5)
