Tasting Note

92   2011  Peay  Sonoma Coast Chardonnay   4/2/16  ($40)

   12.7% alc
Color: Bright medium gold. (3.0) Bouquet: Buttered brioche with tart pear fruit. Expressive and elegant on day two. (3.5) Body: Solid middleweight with excellent acidity and fruit. Dry, tangy mouthfeel. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet with lively tang in the mouth and some mint. (3.5) Finish: Pretty and long, but not as intense as the flavor. (3.0)
Overall: Was a bit austere on day one, but the fruit has opened significantly on day two. This is a high acidity vintage and should age well (better than the '09), give it 3-5 years. Its elegance, low alcohol and acidity-driven fruit are very Burgundian. (16.0)
