Tasting Note

92   2011  Peay  Pomarium Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast)   5/26/18  ($52)

   13.0% alc
Color: Medium black raspberry. (3.0) Bouquet Elegant and spicy black cherry and ripe raspberry fruit. Asian spice and dried leaves complexity with a touch of brown sugar. (3.5) Body: Solid middleweight with excellent balance, fruit and acidity. Silky mouthfeel. (3.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but not quite as expressive. (3.0) Finish: Excellent, but shows a touch of bitterness here. (3.0)
Overall: An excellent cool climate Pinot with racy acidity propelling lean black cherry and raspberry fruit. Highlighted by Asian spices and dried leaves, this is surprisingly easy to drink for a CA Pinot, more like Burgundy. Drink now and in the next few years. (16)
