Tasting Note

90   2011  Peay  Les Titans Syrah (Sonoma Coast)   6/21/18  ($44)

  12.4% alc
Color: Medium purple black cherry. (3.0) Bouquet: Incense and Indian spices complement sweet/tart black cherry and wild berry fruit with forestal nuances underneath. Interesting and elegant. (3.5) Body: Solid middleweight with excellent fruit and acidity. Mouthfeel is silky/tangy. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but fruit is more charming. (3.5) Finish: Long, but needs time to open more. (3.0)
Overall: Shows some incense and black pepper and spicy red pepper in the bouquet, but even here the tart raspberry fruit is muted. A very lean vintage where the fruit is a little green. The excellent acidity does give it life and makes it food friendly, but certainly not a crowd pleaser. May improve with 2-4 more years age, but no guarantees. (15.0)
